Server-side tests have broken Google Now and the Play Store for some users

Google regularly conducts server-side tests - showing new features and UI changes to only a handful of users at a time. Unfortunately, sometimes these have adverse affects on users. In this case, Google has broken the Play Store and Google Now for some users, as a result of two independent server-side tests.

Hands-on: Socratic launches Android app for homework answers

Socratic was launched for Android on May 2nd, but it has been on iOS under the name Homework Genius since last year. It has a pretty interesting premise: you take pictures of your homework, and it tells you about the topic and provides answers. How well does it actually work, though?

Ubisoft brings Hungry Shark VR to Daydream

If your worst nightmare is facing a shark while being helpless at sea then swimming as fast as you can only to be eaten by it, then you might be getting a bit of reverse revenge with this new VR game on Daydream. Or maybe your fears will get more solidified. But what's for sure is that you will be able to experience it all in a more immersive way than any movie scene.

In Hungry Shark, you play as the shark. That's right, you're the good guy here and you have to fight those terrifying jellyfish and nasty human divers. There are three different mission types like eating as much as you can, racing, and rescuing your shark friends, and they all take place in a 360-degree huge underwater setting where you're free to move, explore, and hunt.

Google Wallpapers now has two entirely new categories

Another good reason for non-Pixel owners to be jealous when the device was released last year was the excellent wallpaper picker that was baked into the exclusive launcher. That jealousy thankfully evaporated when Google released the standalone Wallpapers app, and made it available for all Android phones through the Play Store. It recently saw an update to version 1.1 that included plenty of fresh images in every category. And now we're seeing two entirely new categories: Art and Solid Colors.

[Deal Alert] Runtastic Road Bike Pro is free on the Play Store (down from $4.99)

Some deals are just too good not to highlight on their own instead of being grouped with the list of freebies and discounts on the Play Store. And this one is definitely one of them. Runtastic Road Bike Pro has dropped from $4.99 to free, $0, nada, zilch, zero. This is Runtastic's dedicated app for tracking bike rides, with maps, charts, history, all manners of stats, and weather data.

While most cyclists I know are on Strava, that didn't stop Runtastic from still garnering enough users for its own app: between 100K and 500K downloads on the Play Store for the paid Pro version and a rating of 4.4 with more than 15000 reviews will attest to that.

[Update: Instructions] Android Wear 2.0 is finally rolling out to the Huawei Watch

Android Wear 2.0 has been sort of available for a few months, although almost no watches were running it. Your best bet if you wanted AW2.0 was to buy one of the new LG watches from Google. Now, one of the most popular Android Wear devices of yesteryear is getting Wear 2.0. If you've got a Huawei Watch, you might want to charge it up for the (hopefully) impending update. If you are on the preview, it's probably already downloading.
