An unusually advanced strain of malware was discovered on iOS last year, dubbed Pegasus by Lookout and other security firms that analyzed it. Now, an Android version of Pegasus has been discovered. The new malware is known as Chrysaor, and a full analysis of its origins and capabilities has been published by Google and Lookout. It's a serious piece of malware, but you don't have to worry about it showing up on your phone.

Unlocked phones are great. You can take them to whichever carrier you desire, you usually have greater control over software modification, and you don't have to deal with contracts. Amazon seems to think so, too; as a result, it's running an "Amazon Unlocked Phone Event" that starts today, with discounts on Sony Xperia, LeEco, Lenovo, ASUS, and Coolpad smartphones.

Android is a hulking beast as far as global user share is concerned — hell, it's the most-used operating system in the world, surpassing even Windows (in terms of internet usage). When Samsung announced that it was creating its own open-source alternative to Google's mobile OS, it was not really a surprise. We've had several upstarts over the years, like Sailfish, Firefox OS, Ubuntu Touch, and so on, but all of them have failed in some form or another. There were a few people, however, who thought Sammy could be the one to unseat Google and Android with a mobile operating system that it called Tizen.

I hate persistent notifications. I like dropping down my notification shade and seeing nothing there, otherwise I get very OCD and feel like there's something that requires my attention, but then I see there really isn't because it's just a persistent notification. Even if you don't mind these and even if these always get pushed to the bottom of the list, they can clutter up your notification drop-down and make it more difficult to manage.

You can now make polls in Allo, but only for yes/no questions
Allo has steadily added more functionality since launch, including more chatbots. The first was Lucky, a bot that can search for GIFs from a given word or phrase. Another one has now appeared in Allo, allowing users to create polls.
